What is Dry Eye Disease?

Dry Eye Disease (DED) is a common eye concern that occurs when your tears don’t produce enough moisture or lubrication for your eyes. This happens for various reasons, including decreased tear production, damage to the surface of your eyes, poor-quality tears, hormonal changes, autoimmune disease, allergies, and more. It can also be caused by certain medications and environmental conditions like being exposed to smoke or staring at your computer for long periods of time.

Symptoms of Dry Eye Disease:

  • Eye redness
  • Itching, burning, or stinging sensations in eyes
  • Blurred vision
  • Light sensitivity
  • Very watery eyes (your body’s response to DED)
